The city of Fairfield is the county seat of Solano County in California. Fairfield is in the North Bay sub-region of the San Francisco Bay Area, sometimes considered part of Sacramento Valley. Although Fairfield is one of the safest California cities, thanks to the tireless police work and other law enforcement and first responder agencies, the devastation and vicious cycle of drug abuse threaten the safety and community that Fairfield enjoys.

Drug Safe Solano, a coalition spearheaded by the Solano Coalition for Better Health, reported a 13% increase of crude opioid-involved deaths in 2019-2020. The report also showed that minority communities, including black and Native American populations, were disproportionately affected by this crisis.

While there are not as many drug abuse treatment centers in Fairfield proper, the city is surrounded by excellent rehab facilities in nearby towns, most of them within 10 miles of Fairfield.
