The city of Ontario is located in the Inland Valley of Southern California, known for its perpetual sun and dry desert climate. Unfortunately, a beautiful mountainous landscape hasn’t been enough to save Ontario from the drug and opioid epidemic that’s razing the country; admissions to local addiction treatment centers have been on the rise.
In general, rehabs in Ontario aren’t as abundant as they are in other parts of Southern California. However, the local community is working towards addressing substance abuse in their city, and there are plenty of excellent options for treatment available to you in Ontario and other nearby communities. If and when you’re ready to get help, these rehabs are ready to support you.
Best Rehab Centers in Ontario
Aegis Treatment Centers (Pinnacle)
Pinnacle Treatment operates this methadone clinic in the heart of Ontario. If you’re trying to break away from an opioid addiction, then sometimes, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) can be a safe way to do so. This clinic dispenses both methadone and Suboxone to clients over the age of 18 to make it easier to beat your cravings and stay clean.
Uniquely for a methadone clinic, Aegis is open until 6 P.M. every day, making it a convenient option for everyone (many MAT clinics only operate in the early mornings). There’s also group and individual counseling available here, with both gender- and culture-specific groups on the schedule. Other programs on offer include mindfulness classes and peer support groups. If you’re suffering from an opioid addiction in Ontario, help is right in your backyard.

There are multiple programs available here for court-ordered clients, including First Offender programs and Multiple Offender programs. They can even help you with out-of-state DUIs if you’re a visitor to the Ontario area. Everlast Recovery Center
If you’re looking for an inpatient detox and rehab in Ontario, you’ll have to leave the city borders to go to nearby Riverside. The recovery program at Everlast consists of a 30-day detox period, in which you will receive both supervision during withdrawal as well as counseling. If you’d like to extend your stay to continue receiving counseling, you’re welcome to.
This is a sub-acute detox, designed for people who are in generally good health and don’t need to be in a hospital setting while they withdraw from drugs or alcohol. If you’d prefer not to go through detox in a hospital, however, Everlast is a great option; the facility is located in a home-like environment where you’ll feel the support and care of the community there.
Cedar House Life Change Center
Cedar House Life Change Center came from humble beginnings; it started as a 12-bed residential facility for men suffering from alcohol abuse back in 1971. Since then, it has grown to be the vast and respected non-profit organization it is today. Now, Cedar House runs a 142-bed adult residential facility as well as multiple specialized group homes and sober living programs.
Some of the specialized programs available here are Maple House, a transitional living program for women with children, and Oasis House, a home for transitional-aged youth (aged 18 to 24) who are at risk for homelessness. Both Medi-Cal and private insurance are accepted here, making treatment as affordable as possible for everyone.
Inland Valley Recovery Services
Inland Valley Recovery Services, located just down the road in Upland, is a well-established non-profit organization that focuses on serving people suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. They’ve helped over 5,000 people a year since their founding in 1962, and they show no signs of stopping any time soon.
Some of the programs available at this rehab are detox, an adult inpatient facility, an intensive outpatient program, and outpatient programming for youth. There are also perinatal services available for pregnant women who suffer from addiction to help them get off of drugs and become the best mothers they can be. Treatment here is affordable; they accept both private insurance and Medi-Cal, and can arrange private payments on a sliding scale.
Behavioral Health Services (BHS)
Behavioral Health Services is a community non-profit organization that has been providing substance abuse and behavioral health treatment services for various Los Angeles communities since 1973 - including in the Inland Valley area. They run multiple clinics, but the one in Pomona is located nearest to Ontario.
At their Pomona clinic (BHS American Recovery Center), there are a multitude of substance abuse treatment services available, including medical detox, inpatient treatment, long-term residential services, and varying levels of outpatient treatment. The average length of a residential stay is between 3 and 6 months. BHS does offer specialized services for teens over the age of 12, but you’ll have to travel to central Los Angeles for that program.
Whiteside Manor is a well-established rehab center in nearby Riverside that provides addiction treatment on a complete continuum of care. They have been serving the Inland Valley recovery community for over 3 decades, and since the beginning they’ve been dedicated to providing affordable care for those suffering from substance use disorder.
The programs available here are comprehensive and include detox, inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient. They specialize in treating co-occurring mental illnesses; their dual diagnosis curriculum uses evidence-based practices like DBT and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. Best of all, since Whiteside Manor is a non-profit organization, they accept Medi-Cal as payment and their private pay fees are affordable compared to many of their competitors.
One of the few luxury rehabs on this list is Hathaway Recovery, a gorgeous facility that’s located on a secluded mountainside in Claremont. There is a full continuum of treatment available at Hathaway, from detox to outpatient, but where this rehab excels is the caliber of their inpatient program. Evidence-based practices are used to treat substance use disorder and dual diagnosis conditions, and there is a priority placed on one-on-one interventions.
The amenities at this beautiful rehab include private bedrooms, an on-site chef, and a personal fitness trainer, including tennis lessons. There is a private pool and Mediterrenean-style fountains on the property, helping you feel the most comfortable and at peace as possible as you go through your treatment.
10 Acre Ranch
This comprehensive rehab center, located around half an hour away in the city of Riverside, is an excellent option for rehab if you want to be able to move through different levels on the continuum of care in one place. Their services begin with providing clients with supervised detox; after you go through withdrawal, you can move into their inpatient facility or choose an intensive outpatient program.
This rehab has been serving the Inland Valley recovery community for over 20 decades; it’s clear they know what they’re doing. On top of commonly used evidence-based practices, they also specialize in using animal therapy for treatment. To speak further to their love of animals, their inpatient facility is also pet-friendly.
The “his” in His House has two meanings: it’s a rehab that’s mostly designed for men, and it considers itself to be a Christian faith-based program (following “God's” teachings). There are multiple inpatient facilities in the local area, including in Upland and in Rancho Cucamonga. The inpatient treatment programs only work with men, but women are welcome in other programs.
Although they do consider themselves a Christian rehab and encourage their clients’ spiritual growth, this rehab also uses a wide range of evidence-based practices to treat addiction. Some of these include CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Brief Strategic Family Therapy. All of their programs boast a low client-to-staff ratio, ensuring individualized attention.
Alcohol Education and Recovery Services
This outpatient treatment center is licensed by the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs to provide treatment for people who’ve been mandated by the court due to a DUI conviction. If, for whatever reason, Valley Improvement Program doesn’t suit your needs, you may want to consider accessing services at Alcohol Education and Recovery Services.
The clinic has been providing DUI offender programs to the local community since 1982. There are various levels of programming available, including a 6-week (12 hours) wet-reckless program to a 18-month multiple offender program. The cost of each program depends on its length, and you can sign up for a payment plan.
MFI Recovery Center
This rehab in the nearby city of Riverside offers a wide range of programming for different groups of people. For example, there is an inpatient facility available specifically for mothers, complete with free childcare and parenting classes. This makes it possible for women to focus on their recovery without having to worry about separating from their families. There’s an inpatient facility available for men as well.
On top of their residential programs, there are also varying levels of outpatient programming available, including partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. One of their outpatient programs is designed specifically for teens who are struggling with substance abuse; this is one of the only rehabs in the Ontario area to offer teen-specific programming.
Daylight Recovery Services
An inpatient treatment option that’s available to you near Ontario is Daylight Recovery Services, a full-service rehab in Corona. This rehab focuses on helping people recover from both substance use disorder as well as any co-occurring mental health disorders; they understand that the two often go hand in hand.
You can choose to go through medically-monitored detox here before you move into their inpatient facility. During your residential treatment, you will attend 12-step groups as you learn alternative coping tools to help fight addiction. There’s even reiki available here, supplied by one of Daylight’s staff members.
Pacific Clinics is an expansive non-profit behavioral health organization that serves almost all of Southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties. Although they treat all mental health conditions, they do have specialized programming for substance abuse for youth, adults, and older adults.
Because they are a behavioral health organization, the staff at Pacific Clinics specializes in treating dual diagnosis conditions on an outpatient basis. They’ve also recently piloted the use of medication-assisted treatment, specifically Vivitrol, to help people with opioid addictions.
Valenta Mental Health Recovery
Eating disorders mimic drug and alcohol addiction in many ways; furthermore, eating disorders (specifically, anorexia nervosa) are the most lethal mental illnesses, and people suffering from eating disorders need to go through treatment just as urgently as people battling addiction do. Luckily for Ontario residents, there is a treatment facility that specializes in treating eating disorders in the neighboring community of Rancho Cucamonga.
Although there is no residential facility at Valenta Recovery, they provide intensive outpatient services for adult women and adolescents of any gender who are suffering from eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia. They use evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, and art therapy to treat both eating disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, including substance abuse.
New Perceptions To Living
Artimus S. Jenkins founded New Perceptions To Living, a non-profit organization, because he felt a calling to meet the needs of Los Angeles’ inner-city population. The organization provides drug and alcohol education and counseling on an outpatient basis to anyone who needs it; they strive to make their services as accessible to as many people as possible.
Some of the services available through New Perceptions To Living are individual, family, and couples counseling, as well as educational classes on topics like domestic violence, anger management, and drug education. They also spread awareness of HIV and AIDS in the Los Angeles community.
For women who don’t have many financial resources to access treatment, Prototypes is a great local option. This non-profit organization, based in Pomona, makes it their mission to help women rebuild their lives after suffering from addiction. They do so by providing this community with both inpatient and outpatient treatment as well as housing.
The residential facilities operated by Prototypes welcome both single women as well as mothers with young children. Mothers will work with their counselors to determine what exact services will benefit them (some that are available are counseling, parenting classes, and vocational assistance), while their children also receive mental health and school support.
Glendora Recovery Center
If you choose to go to rehab at Glendora Recovery Center, you will participate in an intensive outpatient program while living in their sober living home. That way, you will get the supportive environment of a residential program with the flexibility of an outpatient one. There are two levels of outpatient programs available here: partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. Both include weekly visits from a psychiatrist.
The sober living homes that Glendora Recovery Center operates are high-end, ensuring that you’ll feel comfortable during your stay there. If you end up needing a higher intensity of treatment, the staff can refer you to a local residential treatment program (even if they don’t offer one themselves). This rehab is also qualified to provide you with any documentation you may need for the courts, including for alternative sentencing.
Full Circle Recovery
If you are a person of the Christian faith looking for a rehab that reflects that, then Full Circle Recovery may be for you. Although there are no inpatient services available here, there is a full continuum of outpatient care that’s offered, including partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. All of their programs are based on Christian values.
Although Full Circle does describe itself as a Christian faith-based rehab, they don’t only rely on the teachings of the Bible for the treatment programs. They also use evidence-based practices to treat co-occurring mental health conditions, and have licensed therapists on staff. If you don’t want any Christian influence at all in the outpatient rehab you choose, try Glendora Recovery Center.
Evexia Health Services
For another option for methadone in the Ontario area, drive out to Corona to receive services at Evexia Health Services (Evexia operates two clinics in the surrounding area). On top of administering methadone, Evexia also administers buprenorphine (in the form of Suboxone) and offers peer support, case management, and professional development services.
For another option for methadone that’s closer to home, try Aegis Treatment Centers. Pacific Clinics is another place to receive MAT in the area, although they don’t administer methadone - only Vivitrol.
