Columbia, the capital city of South Carolina, is a fast-growing metropolitan area that has many things to boast about, including the world’s first electric-run textile mill. Unfortunately, the opioid epidemic has taken a severe toll on the city. Ten bills have been filed by the S.C. Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services to fight this scourge.

The state has demonstrated its commitment to combatting the menace of opioid misuse, and there are many substance use and mental health treatment centers in Columbia and nearby towns and cities.
